Former American Idol star and diabetes sufferer Crystal Bowersox has been named ambassador for Lilly Diabetes, and will speak to children to help them understand how to manage the condition by sharing her story.

Bowersox commented 'Growing up with diabetes, I felt isolated from other kids because they didn't understand the challenges I faced, and today I know there are many who experience the same things. However, despite the obstacles, I learned how to manage the disease, and I try to live my life to the fullest. That's why I'm excited to partner with Lilly Diabetes to tell my story and encourage kids'.
